Doubts!
Doubt is one of the agents used by mind to resist the changes necessary for genuine and lasting spiritual maturation. Doubts appear whenever we compare our spiritual development with some idealized perfect self, or when we compare our growth with the progress of others. When we regularly follow those hindering doubts they tend to become self-fulling prophecies. We can even stop working on ourselves altogether, or we back away from what has previously offered us solace.
