The more time, energy, and attention I focus on thinking or talking about past accomplishments; the less time and energy there is to create and cherish "memories (insights) of today."
Dwelling on the Past!

I hung out with a Hawk friend today. At some point, I could feel an intense pull to compare the clear and present "exchange of energy" with my friend, with a similar encounter in the past. The pull of attention to the past and future is just absurd enough to expose itself as a wake up call to Presence.
Now is more than enough. Namaste.
Sometimes when I find the present moment uninviting I spend time remembering what I once had. I am then overlooking what is special right here in the now. People who live in the past are by-passing life. There is always some gift here and now if we just pay attention and open up to what is. Even the same scene can be re-experienced with fresh eyes.
I often catch myself on a seesaw of glory vs failure. Ego feeds off of both in different ways , but each are hooks into a story out of this moment. I have witnessed on several occasions that “Joe” really doesn’t matter. These stories however, have been fantastic reminders that I am not fully present in this moment. Then I can take in the available freedom for no other reason than appreciation.
